ARTS IN EDUCATION PROJECT - TIDAL REACH
'A Growing
Infection: The Transformation of Victorian London'
The second part of the Tidal Reach programme took
place during the 2007 summer term.
The
programme was set in 1849, when Victoria was a young mother who had been queen
for twelve years, planning for the Great Exhibition had just started, London was
growing at a terrifying speed and the poor and vulnerable lived in dread of the
workhouse. This was yet another time of rapid
change and of uncertainty for many.
Part of the workshop again took place at
Watermen’s Hall, and one of the characters in the production was a lighterman
of the time.
