IN EDUCATION PROJECT - TIDAL REACH
With the benefit of funding from
the Heritage Lottery Fund, we have been able to
stage two new programmes, 'The Golden Vanity' and 'A Growing Infection'.
The Company of Watermen and
Lightermen joined us for these as a third project partner, allowing us to cover
a wider area in terms of geographical area, of themes and of casts.
As
with all our programmes, these covered pivotal periods in the history of the
City.
'The Golden
Vanity: Tudor London and its River'
Historically,
this production focused on the 1590s, looking at the effects both of late Tudor
exploration in the City and at the way the many uncertainties of the day
influenced the lives of Londoners.
We were able to add a replica Tudor boat moored at
St Katherine’s Dock, areas of the Embankment and Watermen’s Hall to the
Church as locations for parts of the programme, adding considerably to
children’s sense of becoming part of the City’s “real life”.
