Island of Saints


12 July - 2 August, daily during church opening hours

This exhibition brings together early Christian saints of the British Isles and the ancient tradition of Byzantine Iconography. Contemporary Russian iconographers will exhibit icons of British saints, biblical figures, images of the Mother of God and major Christian Feasts.

Private View - Friday 12 July, from 6-9pm
A private view of the exhibition, with a performance by the Russian Orthodox Choir of the Cathedral of the Dormition and All Saints from 7-7.30pm.

Icon Workshop - Sunday 14 July from 2-3.30pm
This is a free workshop for children aged 5-10. Materials will be provided, but all children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop.

‘Russian Avant-garde and the Icon Painting Tradition’ - Thursday 25 July at 6.30pm
A talk by Andrew Spira demonstrating how icons underpin the development of nineteenth and twentieth-century Russian art.
